Heavy rains resulted in swelling of Kangshabati River leading to approx 90 m breach of the embankment near Pasnkura Village, East Midnapur Distt, WB. On the request of the civil administration late night, 15 Oct 13, four columns were mobilised to contain the breach. Due to incessant rains River Kangshabati has developed a posture of concern. A 75 meter embankment was washed away on River Kangshabati leading to a worrisome situation in the lower parts of East Midnapore District. Army was requisitioned by Home Secretary, West Bengal government and an Army Column was rushed to the site to seal the breach.
