Nao Sena Medal for Vishnu Unni

Vishnu Unni, Sea 1 who had valiantly saved the life of a woman who had jumped along with her six month old child from the Vikrant Venduruthy Bridge (in Kerala) on 03 Oct has been awarded the Nao Sena Medal for gallantry posthumously.
A four member team from the Southern Naval Command visited the family of Vishnu at his native place, Thrithala and personally conveyed the news of the declaration of award by the President to the family members.

The exercise aims at honing the military skills of Special Forces of both the friendly countries. The Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, for the first time, on 07 November 2013.
The Royal Highness were given an impressive welcome at the main entrance to the Academy and led through the haloed portals of the iconic Chetwode Building to the Commandant’s Office, where The Royal Highnesses had a fruitful interaction with Lt Gen Manvender Singh and Mrs Ranjana Singh. It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary air force of the British Raj and the prefix Royal was added in 1945 in recognition of its services during World War II. After India achieved independence from the United Kingdom in 1947, the Royal Indian Air Force served the Dominion of India, with the prefix being dropped when India became a republic in 1950.
